Crafted in ceramic, this plant pot is actually an international design classic - but with a contemporary feel.
Aino Aalto was a celebrated Finnish architect and one of the pioneers of Scandinavian design. A co-founder of the iconic design brand Artek (together with her equally-famous husband Alvar Aalto), her creative output spanned architecture and product design.
Aino originally designed these plant pots for the home she and Alvar built on Helsinki’s Riihitie Road (hence their name - the Riihitie Plant Pot), and they were featured in the Artek presentation at the Paris World Fair in 1937. 80 years later, Artek launched these planters to the public. Reinterpreted for contemporary interiors, the plant pot embodies the Aaltos’ belief that even the smallest details are worthy of our time and attention.
We just love the curvy, organic silhouette, and the fact that these are crafted in ceramic.
