Sometimes one of the most powerful things you can do to improve your life is to audit and re-design your spaces.
Decluttering is more than tidying. It’s a reset. A ritual. A quiet reclaiming of who you are, and how you want to live.
Because our spaces aren't just background scenery - they're a mirror. They're a reflection of how you live, how your feel, and how you respect yourself. When a space is chaotic or stale, that energy absolutely imprints on you. But when a space is intentional? Game-changer.
Editing a room is an energetic act. You’re not just simplifying the space - you're simplifying your life. You're making space for beauty, clarity, ease. For more of what you love. For more you.
START HERE:
Get out a pen and paper (or open your Notes app). Begin by making a list of every space you regularly occupy. Not just the obvious ones - lounge, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen - but the smaller spaces too: your desk, your car, your closet, your linen cupboard. Name them all.
THEN - FOR EACH SPACE - ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS:
- How do I want this space to feel? How do I want this space to make me feel?
Get very specific. The way you want to feel in a bedroom is different from how you want to feel in your car or at your desk. How could the design of this space better help support that? - What do I want to do more of in this space? How could the design of this space better help support that?
- Is there anything I want to stop doing in this space (a new standard I want to set for myself)? How can the design of this space help support this new standard?
- What (organisational) systems are working here? Is there a new organisational system or habit I could implement in this space?
- Is everything here good quality and fit for purpose? Does anything irritate me just by being here? What am I willing to remove from this space?
- What are your most favourite items already here? Can I do anything to feature them even more? (What items deserve more presence?)
- What 1-3 things could I add into this space to elevate or inspire?
- What ‘zones’ if any would be helpful in this space?
- How can I elevate the sensory experience of this space? Consider scent, sound, light, texture...
- Have I been 'saving' anything that I should start using?
- What small changes would make this space feel better?
- Most importantly: What could I change, add or remove that would make me feel like the best version of myself?
Our spaces are a statement—of who we are, and who we are becoming. They carry energy, intention, and identity.
Decide who you are, then design your surroundings to affirm it.
